A bad dating agency

Four Northern Territory men will get more than $11,000 in refunds after a dating agency was found to be using misleading publicity.

The Australian and Consumer Commission found Country Contacts International advertised that woman were available to meet men in certain areas where it was unknown if there were any accessible women.

The dating agency also used misleading descriptions of the women and induced extra payments through extra charges and fees.

The ACCC’s Territory director Derek Farrell says he hopes the finding serves as a word of warning to other dating companies.

“Certainly, the commission has received quite a few complaints about introduction agencies over the years. We hope this serves as a warning to introduction agencies that if they mislead their customers, the ACCC views this very gravely and we will take action.”
